Obituary

Roger Harr, 80, Jamestown, ND died Wednesday morning January 8, 2020 at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown, ND surrounded by his family.

Roger Harr was born December 4, 1939 Cleveland, ND the son of Henry Harr and Lydia (Schmierer) Harr.  He received his elementary education in Cleveland, ND.  He entered the Army National Guard October 5, 1956 and was discharged February 26, 1957.

He and Laverne Dewald were married December 28, 1962 at Streeter, ND.  They made their home in Streeter, ND where he worked as a farm laborer. He entered the US Army May 5, 1961 at Fort Riley, KS.  He was discharged May 4, 1964 with the Rank of E-5.   Following his discharge, he returned to ND and they made their home in Streeter where they farmed and milked cows. They moved to Jamestown in 1987 where he worked at Hi-Acres Manor driving bus for about 20 years until going to James River Transit as a Bus Driver. He retired in 2010. He then went to work for Kleinknecht Farms at Pingree for a short time and continued to reside in Jamestown

He was a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Laverne, his children, Dean (Anne) Harr; Darcy (Pam) Harr; Merrily Harr; all of Jamestown, ND;  Melissa (Kerry) Slaughter, Tappen, ND; 14 grandchildren, Cody, Austin, Shane, Natasha, Sheldon, Danielle, Shantel, Stan, Shauna, Derek, Dusty, Nikk, Matt and Lesha; 10 great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Madison, Chyler, Kamden, Ashton, Gracie, Nathan, Bradley, Ava and Deagen; 2 brothers, Ron (Judy) Harr; Dale (Cora) Harr; 1 sister, Betty (Wayne) Gorman all of Jamestown, ND; 2 brothers-in-laws, Vaughn (Robin) Dewald and Leon (Darlene) Dewald, all of Jamestown, ND and several nieces and nephews. He was also survived by his 4 puppies, Pippi, Camry, Dahlia and Violet.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister and 1 grandchild, Shyler.
