Jim was a terrific man, honest, frank (maybe even a tad outspoken) and hard working, with a great breadth of knowledge and a unique sense of humor.<br><br>I always enjoyed sitting and listening to him and my dad talk whenever we visited the family farm in North Dakota, which was many summers when I was a boy.<br> <br>I'll always appreciate the reunion he held in 2004, and the chance it provided to reconnect with relatives. I recall the festivities he put together: bison roast, hayride, and target practice with dynamite down at the lake! <br><br>I respected the care, tenderness and especially the love that Jim and Elaine showered on Laurie. I'm sure that providing that level of care was difficult at times, but you would never hear them admit that. Instead, they did everything they could to make her life a good one, always with an upbeat and positive attitude.<br><br>I'm so glad that Jim was able to travel to Colorado a little less than a year and a half ago, and that I had a chance to chat with him one last time.<br><br>My thoughts are with you all, especially Elaine. May the Lord bring you peace during this difficult time. Jim is sharing a home with the angels now, he can hug his little girl again, and she's able to hug him back.

Few people in my entire life have touched me more deeply than the friendship I have shared with Jim Olson, a friend since 1962.<br><br>His move back to Streeter when our family was in Bismarck, greatly increased our contacts with the Jim and Elaine Olson family. It is an amazing joy for us to recall the warm receptions we received when visiting their farm south of Streeter.<br><br>A few years later, I changed my status with Jim from cousin to Brother. For many years in all my thinking and in my correspondence with him it has been "Brother Jim."<br><br>Jim was a supreme example of integrity. The courage he displayed in all social gatherings exemplified his strong beliefs. He didn't bend. He didn't break. One outstanding belief, probably enhanced by his father Henry's teaching, was the horrific damage that alcohol could do to a family.<br><br>Soon, we will gather in a very special place, so special that only God's creative power and design will be truly evident. In those Heavenly realms I will greet you with 'Brother' Jim. There we will never be separated again. That will be true for all of those who have trusted in Jesus Christ as their Savior.<br><br>We will not let Jim's memory fade, but it will be held in high esteem in all that his life has earned.<br><br>This is not a good-bye, for now, but a sad farewell.<br><br>Your brother in Christ, LEE<br><br>Sympathies from Lee and Helen and the entire Lee Swenson family.<br><br>

Grandpa, you are my hero. I looked up to you for everything, you always loved to make ppl laugh especially if they were having a bad day. You always put me on your lap when I was like 4 or 5 n read the newspaper to me of course I would always just look at the pretty pictures . Fly high with angels grandpa and go find aunt Laurie give her a big hug from me and tell her I love her. Love and miss you so much!

I new Jim just a little bit but Elaine is my sweet cuz. Iam sure Jim was always there for his big family and now some day they will all see you again love your far away cuz, sharon Brewer ( harvell ).
