Obituary

Edith Raatz, 87, Jamestown, ND died Monday, April 24, 2023 at the Jamestown Regional Medical Center in Jamestown.

Edith Joubert was born March 20, 1936 at Milnor, ND the daughter of Noah and Marie (Stockstad) Joubert.  She grew up in the area, attending school in Gwinner, graduating from Gwinner High School in 1954.

She and Larry Raatz were married June 6, 1954 at the White Stone Hill Church in Gwinner.  They made their home in Verona for two years before moving to Jamestown in 1956, followed by Dickinson in 1981 and finally in 1995 moved to Valley City.  Edith was a stay-at-home mom during this time, raising their 5 children.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Jamestown.

Edith is survived by her husband, Larry; 5 children, Jamie (Donavon) Dallmann, Jamestown; Elisabeth (Don) Kautz, Big Lake, MN’ Kim (Lindsay) Bold, Las Vegas, NV; Larrette (Robert) Scott, Fargo, ND; Donald (Julie) Raatz, Dickinson, ND; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Alethe Krause, Center, ND and Margaret (Ronald) Sagvold, Lisbon, ND and 1 brother, Kenneth (Susan) Joubert, North Bend, OR.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 4 sisters.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Aunt Edie always holds a special place in my heart. I am so very fortunate to have her as a part of my life. I have such wonderful memories of spending time with her. I wish I had been able to spend more time with her over the past several years. Sending all of you much love and prayers. Scot, I, and our children will miss her dearly.
