Frank Samek

Frank Samek, 90, of Fargo, ND and formerly of Jamestown, ND died peacefully, succumbing to cancer at Bethany of 42nd, Fargo, ND on Saturday, April 11, 2026.

  Frank George Samek was born September 13, 1935 on the family farm in Ash Coulee township near Dickinson, North Dakota, the son of James and Mary (Zastoupil) Samek. In 1943, at the age of 8, his parents moved to a farm near Wimbledon, North Dakota where Frank grew up and attended rural school. He helped with the farm work until 1957 when he was drafted into the US Army. Frank returned in 1959 and continued to farm.

  On October 27, 1965, Frank married Adeline Heintz from Sykeston, North Dakota. He continued with farming operations until 1993 when he started the Samek Repair and Manufacturing business. He retired in October, 2008 and moved to Jamestown, before moving to Fargo in July, 2012. Frank was an active member of St. Boniface Catholic church in Wimbledon, North Dakota, and St. James Basilica in Jamestown, North Dakota. He was a member of Knights of Columbus as a member for 72 years and served on the township board.

  Adeline, his first wife of 47 years and four children were his first love. After a loving and blessed marriage, Adeline passed away in 2013. Frank was blessed with a second first love when he married Debra Anderson from rural Harwood (originally from Moorhead, MN) on March 28, 2015. Debra stood by his side until the end.

  His second love was playing his guitar. He played with several bands, including the Country Lads and the Cimarrons. He also spent any opportunity he had tinkering in the shop and making machines out of scrap materials. His other favorite hobbies included fishing and gardening.

  Frank is survived by his second wife, Debra (Anderson) Samek, four children: Denise (Samek) Lowry, Springfield, OR; Wade Samek, Valley City, ND; Edward (Jana) Samek, West Fargo, ND; and Renee (Cory) Lura, Austin, TX, and brother, Vitres (Sara) Samek, and eight grandchildren.

  He was proceeded in death by his son; Frank Jr., parents; James and Mary Samek, seven brothers, George, Laudie, Wensel, Valentine, Benny, Stephen, Bernard, and six sisters; Mary Albrecht, Georgiane Cherney, Mildred Clarys, Margaret Haugen, Patricia Cherney, and Bertha Lorenz.

Visitation-4-7 PM with a 7 PM Rosary and time of sharing, Thursday, April 23, 2026, Haut Funeral Home, 1101 5th Ave NE, Jamestown, ND.

Mass of Christian Burial- 10 AM with visitation one hour prior, Friday, April 24, 2026, Basilica of St. James, 622 1st Ave S, Jamestown, ND. The Very Rev. Chad Wilhelm officiating. A lunch will follow then inurnment at St. Boniface Cemetery, Wimbledon.
