Obituary

Daniel Pollard, age 40, passed away peacefully at Heather’s House of HIA Hospice in Fargo, North Dakota, after a courageous journey following complications from a motorcycle-truck accident that occurred August 24, 2025 in Jamestown.

Daniel Walter Pollard was born on April 8, 1985, in Greenville, Mississippi, to John and Annette (Sprenger) Pollard. Dan, along with his sister Rachel, and his mother, later relocated to Jamestown, ND, where he graduated from Jamestown High School.

Dan worked for Conlin’s Furniture, Cavendish Farms, and Dura-Tech, all of Jamestown. While working in the oil fields near Tioga, ND, his mother introduced him to one of her co-workers, Vanessa Caine. She became the love of his life, and he of hers. They were married at First United Methodist Church, Jamestown, August 12, 2017.

Dan later began working at the Stutsman County Correctional Center, where he was promoted to Sergeant. His accident occurred while he was on his way home from work.

Dan had three major passions in life, his wife, his three children, and his job at the correctional center, working with the team that made him proud and made his job a joy each day.

Dan is survived by his wife, Vanessa, and their three beautiful children, Amelia Kay, Lydia Mae, and Nolan James; his parents, Annette (Warren) Schooler and John  (Kathy) Pollard; siblings, Rachel (Shaw) Stewart and Shania (Spencer) Reinke; step-siblings, Brittany Hoang, Aaron Chapman, and Nikki McClendon; parents-in-law, Roger and Barb Caine; brothers- and sisters-in-law, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephew.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, as well as an aunt and uncle.

VISITATION-6-8 PM, Wednesday, January 14, 2026, First United Methodist Church, 115 3rd St. SE, Jamestown.

FUNERAL SERVICE-11 AM with visitation one hour prior, Thursday, January 15, 2026, First United Methodist Church, 115 3rd St. SE, Jamestown, followed by lunch.

INTERMENT-1:15 PM, Thursday, January 15, 2026, Highland Home Cemetery.

Dan! Ive know u most my life as we went to high school together and my ex husband jerin stroh(rip) and you were great friends. U always told me im better than coming to jail all the time and i need to get my shit together....our last chat was the last time i was released from county 3 yrs ago and u came outside and we just chatted like we did in high school. We always had a good friendship growing up and you were great at your job. My deepest sympathies to your family, wife and children. You are in my prayers. Dan...fly high my friend! U will forever be missed

Dan — I first met you when I started working at the jail as a part-timer, and we instantly hit it off. When I was later assigned to your shift, that’s when our friendship truly began. Dealing with difficult individuals, laughing about the most random things, nerding out over Harry Potter, and getting yelled at by our sergeant are some of my favorite work memories. Your support after my promotion never wavered, no matter what I did. I never knew what I was going to receive in a Snap from you—sometimes it was countless photos of your family, other times a completely random picture that made absolutely no sense. I never realized how much I would miss that, but I do. Your commitment to your family was something I deeply admired, even when it meant you couldn’t go out with us because you were home reading bedtime stories to your girls for two hours. Even now, I still find myself opening my messages, wanting to tell you about my day, a struggle, or a win—only to remember that you can’t respond, and now never will. You were such an inspiration in your unwavering devotion to Vanessa and your kids. I will miss watching you light up when you talked about them—whether it was something the girls had done or you enthusiastically reminding me how hot your wife is. My final memory of you is when I was promoted to Interim Sergeant. You grabbed a pry bar, made me get down on one knee, and “knighted” me, telling me how proud you were of me. I will carry that moment with me always. To Vanessa, your children, and your family: I am so incredibly proud of your strength over these past several months. If Dan were able to, I know he would have sent me countless messages about how amazing you are. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
