I first heard of Martha through our son Jason. After meeting her with Sarah, (Martha's Grand daughter)he came home and said "Mom she is the neatest lady and she is only as tall as my waist." On several family occasions we have since had the pleasure of spending time with Martha. On one such occasion we visited her in Gackle for an auction we were interested in seeing. Spunky as ever she went with us and then we went back to her beautiful house for a fantastic meal topped off with about six different kinds of kuchen. Martha was a wonderful cook, seamstress gardener and grandma. She welcomed our son into her life and showered him with affection. Martha had a guest book at her house filled with visitors names that had visited her through the years. I, like many others that have signed her book, was saddened to hear of her passing. In a week or so Jason and Sarah are about to have Marha's first gradchild. I can only hope that some of Martha's energy and talent will be passed onto her and that she will love life like Martha has.

Martha was one of my favorite all time people, along with her sister Edna. I'm so glad that I brought my 98 year old mother, Nora, back to North Dakota to visit her and others in the summer of 2005. And--I know Martha is now enjoying the presence of the Lord and all the loved ones that went before her. Martha----please say Hi to my son Brett and my first wife, Gretchen. Thank you Martha, -- Billy Lemke

I have such fond memories of Martha and Ed. I remember we were married on the same day and often celebrated togather. She will be missed but she is HOME. God Bless her memory.
