William Leonard "Wild Bill" Blahna, 54, Fargo, ND died Tuesday June 26, 2007 at the Merit Care South Palliative Care Unit in Fargo, ND after a battle with cancer.

Mr. Blahna was born May 22, 1953 at Louck's Maternity Home in Kensal, ND. He was the son of William R. Blahna and Irene (Mettler) Blahna. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Kensal, ND. He graduated from Kensal High School in 1971.

He and Jan Heckman were married June 14, 2007 in Fargo, ND. Bill owned and operated Blahna Sales, Inc. in Fargo, ND a Commercial Floor Covering and Acoustical Ceiling business, for 8 years.

He was a member of the Individuals Motorcycle Club in Jamestown for 20 years and was involved in many fund raising benefits through the Club. His greatest pleasures were riding his Harley, hunting, and carrying on the family tradition of processing and smoking his own meat, and woodworking.

Bill is survived by his wife, Jan, Fargo, ND; daughter, Shauna (Jeremy) Lisburg, Fargo, ND; 2 grandchildren, Logan, Prescott, WI; Hailey, Fargo, ND; mother, Irene Blahna, Kensal, ND; 1 brother, Jim Blahna, Kensal, ND, 5 sisters, Jackie (Steve) Blahna- Becker, Minot, ND; his twin sister, Betty Blahna, Gilbert, AZ; Suzanne (Rod) Mathwich, Prescott, WI; Christie (Ric) Herman, Moorhead, MN; Cindy (Donnie) Colvin, Ft. Payne, AL; Uncle John (Phyllis) Blahna, Milwaukee, WI, Aunt Mary Blahna-Poppen, Wahpeton, ND, Uncles Richard Mettler, International Fall, MN, Gilbert Mettler, Minot, ND, LeRoy Mettler, Clarkston, WA, Aunts LaVerne (Neil) Dassey, Mishicot, WI, Veda Mettler-Stellwagen, Oostberg, WI, Agnes Mettler-Weidrich, Beulah, ND, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Special Cousins, Brad Blahna, Dale Poppen, Jeff Wentzell, Red Blahna-Emo, Deb Emo, Jeanie Blahna-Tanata, Pam and Perry Mettler.

He was preceded in death by his father William Blahna and 2 brothers, Michael and Kenneth.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Saturday June 30, 2007 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Kensal, ND with Rev. Robert Hill, officiating pastor.

The interment will be made in the Kensal Cemetery in Kensal, ND.

The funeral arrangements are by the Haut Funeral Homes in Jamestown, ND.

Prayer Service - 7:00 P.M. Friday @ the funeral home.
Visitation - 9:00 - 9:00 Friday @ the funeral home.

My sincere sympathies for the family. I don't know if Bill remembers me, but we were regular rollerskaters at Spiritwood Lake when their rink was open. I'll always remember the last night it was open, we stayed and talked outside the rink for hours under the harvest moon. I had no idea the rink would be closing, just knew it was the last night for the season. Well, I learned later it was closing permanently and often wondered whatever became of Bill, a friend I had made and truly enjoyed the company of. Rest in peace, Bill.
