Florence Becker

Florence Becker, 80, Jamestown, ND died Tuesday afternoon August 18, 2009 at the Ave Marie Village in Jamestown, ND.

Florence DynElla Ruff was born August 17, 1929 at Fredonia, ND, the daughter of Gust and Bertha (Nagel) Ruff. She attended grade school in the Lautt School District and attended Lehr High School. She later taught school in the Lautt School District.

She and Wilbert Becker were married June 28, 1948 at Lehr, ND. They lived in Lehr where she worked at the Grenz General Store, than moved to Jamestown where she worked at the Coulton Grocery Store and Jamestown Hospital. They lived at area farms where she worked as a cook until moving to Eckelson where she cooked at the school, cleaned houses and worked at the café in Sanborn. In 1974 she had the Post Office in their home until 1995 when they moved to Jamestown where they have resided. She entered the St. Rose Care Center in LaMoure for a short time before entering Ave Maria in Jamestown, ND.

She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, served as Sabbath School Secretary, Deaconess, church pianist, Cradle Roll & Kindergartner Teacher, PTA Secretary/Treasurer and other community affairs.

She is survived by her husband, Wilbert, Jamestown, ND; 4 children, Wayne (Connie) Becker, Dazey, ND; Myrna Harris, Fountain, CO; Lynette (Terry) Didier, Sanborn, ND; Rydell (Suzy) Becker, Valley City, ND; 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Floyd (Della) Ruff, Fredonia, ND; and Farrell Ruff, Bismarck, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 daughter-in-law, Pam, 1 son-in-law, Dale, 2 brothers, Freddie and Fillmore, 1 brother-in-law, Lloyd, and 2 sisters-in-law, Betty and Mavis

The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Friday August 21, 2009 at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Jamestown, ND, with Pastor Darren Purdy, officiating.

The interment will be made in the Sunset Memorial Gardens at Jamestown, ND.
