Irene Oster

Irene Oster, 92, Jamestown, ND, died Tuesday July 30, 2024 at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown.

Irene was born February 4, 1932 at Millarton, ND, the daughter of Jacob and Johanna (Diebert) Gahner. She attended the local country school and graduated from the 8th grade. She worked as a waitress at the Jamestown Café and Moline Café.

She and John Oster were married March 18, 1955 at Clayton NM. She traveled with John where he did construction work, later moving to Finley, ND where John worked for the electrical power company. They moved to Phoenix, AZ where John worked at another electrical company. They then moved to Monmouth, OR until he retired and moved to West Salem, OR. Following the death of her husband April 21, 2014, she moved back to Jamestown. In August of 2014 she moved into Rock of Ages, later Rosedale and in 2023 she entered Ave Maria Village.

Irene is survived by her brother and 2 sisters, Jacob J. (Marilynn) Gahner, Fargo, ND; Elma Delzer, Aberdeen, SD; Lenora (Greg) Hill, Alamogordo, NM; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 1 daughter Michelle in 1992, 3 brothers, and 1 brother-in-law, Reinhold Delzer.

Cremation has taken place with no services planned according to Irene’s wishes.

 Irene’s final resting place will be made in the Restlawn Memory Gardens at Salem, OR at a later date.
