Obituary

Stuart W. Higginbotham, 55, Jamestown, ND passed away Tuesday evening December 29, 2009 in the comfort of his home at Jamestown after a long battle with cancer.

Stuart Higginbotham was born July 28, 1954 at Port Hueneme, CA, the son of Robert Higginbotham and Roberta (Stone) Higginbotham. He received his elementary education in Glendive, MT, Wapheton, ND and Benson, MN. He graduated from High School in Benson before attending Minnesota West Technical College from 1977 to 1980, where he majored in Agricultural and Consumer Banking.

He and Donna Johansen were married May 22, 1976 at Lake Benton, MN.
In 1980 they moved to Valley City where he worked as a Loan Officer and Branch Manager at the First Community Credit Union until 1988. In 1989 they moved to Jamestown where he became Vice President of Operations and then Administration. They moved to Maddock, ND in 1997 and became President of the North Star Community Credit Union until 2003 when they returned to Jamestown where he served as President of the First Community Credit Union to the present time.

He was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church in Jamestown, ND, North Dakota Credit Union League Board, Jamestown/Stutsman Development Corporation Board, Lions Club, Masonic Lodge, El Zagal Shriners, Eagles Aerie 2192, Valley City, ND, Elks Lodge No. 995, Ducks Unlimited, Blue Jay Boosters and the Jimmie Boosters.

Stuart was passionate about fishing and more fishing, hunting, watching movies, history films, golfing and all sports. He enjoyed listening to college marching band music. He especially enjoyed being a die-hard Vikings fan.

Surviving are his wife Donna, Jamestown, ND, 2 brothers and 1 sister, Curtis Higginbotham, Valley City, ND, Barry (Jackie) Higginbotham, Ft. Pierre, SD, Pam (Chad) Lentz, Barnesville, MN, his father, Bob Higginbotham, Valley City, ND and his mother Roberta ‘Betty' Gamache, Barnsville, MN.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Memorial Service will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday January 5, 2010 in the 1st United Methodist Church in Jamestown, ND with Rev. Michelle Brennan, officiating.

Prayer Service: 7:00 PM Monday January 4, 2010 at the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown, ND.

Visitation 9-8 Monday at the Funeral Home (body not present)

In Lieu of flowers the family prefers Memorials to the Charity of your choice

Donna, I am so sorry for your loss. Stu will be greatly missed. Now he is resting peacefully. I am sorry I will not be able to attend his funeral due to a prior family committment. You are in my thoughts.
