Obituary
Walter Harold Presler, 93, formerly of Gackle, ND, went home to his savior on December 23, 2024, at Eventide Nursing Home, Jamestown, ND.
Walter was born February 15, 1931, on the family farm southwest of Gackle, ND, the son of John G. and Othilda (Domdie) Presler. Walter was born and grew up on the family farm, attending Gackle Public school, graduating in 1950. Upon graduation Walter taught school for one year and August 27, 1950, he married Adeline (Tiede) Presler, in Jud ND, and they had three daughters.
Walter and Adeline lived on Walter’s family farm, raised crops, range cattle, pigs, milk cows, butcher chickens and Walter had a side business repairing tarps, shoes and whatever he could repair with the tools he had. He and Adeline enjoyed butchering and making sausage with family and friends. Walter served on some community boards throughout his years in Gackle. He enjoyed his music, cattle and working with leather. Walter and Adeline resided on the family farm until 2011 then moving to Jamestown, ND. In September 2015 Walter became a resident at Eventide Nursing Home. Adeline passed in 2022 giving them 72 years of marriage.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Gackle, ND.
Walter is survived by his daughters, Gail Gunst, Fargo, ND; Ardis (Don)Boehmer, Gackle, ND and Linda Presler, Gackle, ND; 2 grandchildren, Cher (Jeff) Heidt, Baron Curtis (Lacal Olson), and 6 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Gertrude Kassman, Nyssa, OR; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Adeline, his parents, 1 infant grandson, 4 brothers, 12 sisters, sister-in-law’s and brother-in-law’s and uncles and aunts.
The family would like to thank Hospice of the Red River Valley and Eventide Nursing Home for the care given to Walter.
A graveside service for Walter and Adeline will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, April 19, 2025 at the Gackle Cemetery. The family will gather at the Gackle Legion following the service.
