Gloria Schoonover

Gloria Ruth Schoonover, 91, Gackle, ND died early Saturday morning November 15, 2014 in the Wishek Living Center in Wishek, ND.

Gloria Laemmle was born October 2, 1923 at Jordon, MT the daughter of Christian H. Laemmle and Mina (Haux) Laemmle. At an early age they moved to Mandan, ND where she received her elementary education and graduated from High School.

She and Earl Schoonover were married march 14, 1946 at Wibaux, MT. They made their home in Grafton, ND; Valley City, ND and Livingston, MT where he her husband was an automotive mechanic for 40 years. They retired in 1986 and moved to Gackle and in 1992 they moved to a farmstead SE of Gackle. In January of 2008 she moved to the Gackle Care Center, after the death of her husband July 20, 2008 she continued to reside at the Gackle care Center until October of 2013 when she entered the Wishek Living Center.

Gloria was very proud that she was a welder in the ship yards during World War II, She worked as produce manager for both Grafton's Super Valu and Valley City's Fairway grocery stores, she enjoyed driving school bus when living in Ft. Rice, and she and Earl managed Self Service gas stations while living in Livingston, MT. She loved her grandchildren, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, crafts and farm animals and after retiring to the farm in Gackle, ND she especially enjoyed all of these things.

She is survived by 1 son and 2 daughters, Jim (Linda) Schoonover, Rome, GA; Jane Schoonover, Gackle, ND; Judy Schultz , Gackle, ND; 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 1 sister, Ramona Schlenker, Carson City, NV; 1 brother, Herb Laemmle, St. Paul, MN and special friends Ardell and Barb Schmidt, Gackle, ND

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 daughter, Lois Schoonover, 2 sisters, Dorothy Graner, Emma Laemmle, 1 brother Carl Laemmle and a very dear friend and neighbor Art Schmidt.

Memorial Service - 11:00 AM Saturday November 22, 2014 in the Grace Baptist Church in Gackle, ND with Rev. Bernie Jasken, officiating
