Douglas Michel, 70, Jamestown, ND died Tuesday February 17, 2015 at his home in Jamestown, ND.

Doug was born September 8, 1944 at Chamberlain, SD, the son of Lynn Michel and Ruth (Haar) Michel. He grew up in the Mitchell area and graduated from Menno High School in Menno, SD.

He entered the US Navy

He and Lorene Goodsoldier were married October 15, 1983 at Fort Totten, ND. He worked at the Sioux Manufacturing where he worked making camouflage nets for 15 years. He later went to work at the Spirit Lake Casino working as a supervisor for the housemen. They moved to Sioux Falls and retired and in August of 2009 they moved to Jamestown.

He is survived by his wife, Lorene, Jamestown, ND; 5 children, Abraham Chopper, Wolf Point, MT; Jolene Chopper, Fort Kipp, MT; Wendy Chopper, Poplar, MT; Joseph Dunn, Jamestown, ND; Louis Dunn, Fort Totten, ND; 20 grandchildren, 1 special granddaughter, Paris Chopper, Jamestown, ND; and 2 special grandsons, Ben Chopper and Royce LaVallie, Jamestown, ND; 7 great children, 1 special great grandson, Zayden Chopper,1 sister, Sheila Russell, Rockaway, OR and 7 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 grandson and 1 sister, Dorene.

Funeral Service - 11:00 AM Wednesday February 25, 2015 at the Haut Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND, with Father Joe Barrett, officiating

Visitation - 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM Tuesday @ the funeral home
