Leroy Harry Miedema, 63, Jamestown, ND, died Saturday September 19, 2015, at his home in Jamestown, ND.

Leroy was born September 29, 1951, at Jamestown, ND, the son of Harry and Margaret (Elliot) Miedema. He attended elementary schools in the Ypsilanti/Montpelier areas and graduated from Montpelier High School in 1969. He graduated from Valley City State College in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography and Environmental Science. He also took flying lessons and received his pilot's license in 1968.

He and Helene Beverly Steigberg were married June 7, 1974, at Sigdal Lutheran Church near Tolna, ND. They made their home in Valley City, rural Marion, and rural Eckleson where he farmed for 20 years. They moved to Jamestown where he worked at Arnold Machinery as a warehouse manager.

He is a member of the Victory Lutheran Brethren in Jamestown. Leroy's happiest moments in life were spent enjoying God's creation. He loved hunting, especially with his sons, and spending time outdoors at the farm. He adored his grandchildren, Charlie and Maggie, and time spent with them meant so much to him, especially as his illness progressed.

He is survived by his wife, Bev, Jamestown, ND; 2 sons, Joey (Missy) Miedema, Grand Forks, ND; Jacob Miedema, Jamestown, ND; 2 grandchildren, Charles and Margaret, and 3 sisters, Shirley (Bruce) DuVall, St. Joseph, MO; Carol (Ray) Erbele, Streeter, ND and Charlotte (Les Nordgaard) Enger, Jamestown, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and 1 sister Marlene Vondergeest.

Bev and family. I am sorry for your loss. I have great memories of Leroy. I remember the time when Allen and I were driving around in the country, and snuck up Leroy at the farm (in the dark). I stuck my head out the window and pretended I was from out of town and wanted permission to hunt on his land. I have never seen anyone jump up so quick and respond with a NO.. We all laughed so hard, he grabbed me by the arm and we giggled like little kids.

Leroy was an incredible person and a gentleman. He was an uncle of mine but before that he was a good friend! Thank-You Leroy for the past 10 years, it was honor of mine to really get to know you and your family! Thank-You for that! We made incredible memories and had much laughter! May God bless you eternally, and sing loudly with the angels my good friend!!!
