Darlene Gumke, 78, Streeter, ND died Sunday morning, November 29, 2015 at the JRMC in Jamestown, ND.
Darlene Veil was born August 5, 1937 at the family farm south of Streeter, ND; the daughter of Otto Veil and Katie (Seigle) Veil. She received her education at the Streeter School. After school she moved to Jamestown where she worked at Ebertz Dry Cleaners and later for White Drug.
She and Gordon Gumke were married July 7, 1967 at Jamestown, ND. They made their home in McDermitt, NV where she owned a Daycare. In 1972 they moved to Fairview, MT where she had another Daycare. She retired from fulltime Daycare in 1992 when they moved to Gackle, ND. She worked with housekeeping at the Gackle School and helped her husband at the bar and bowling alley. They moved to Streeter in 2002 where she cooked at the Streeter Senior Center. They have continued to reside in Streeter.
She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gackle, ND.
She is survived by her husband, Gordon, Streeter, ND; 2 daughters, Debra (Skip) Jordan, Hemet, CA; Stacie (Matt) Price, Blaine, MN; 1 son, David (Mary) Gumke, Watford City, ND; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and 1 brother, Glenn (Sheila) Veil, Vancouver, WA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and 1 brother, Darrel.
