Roger 'Buster' Starkey July 6, 1934 - December 31, 2015 Roger M. 'Buster' Starkey, 81, Jamestown, ND passed away Thursday December 31, 2015 at the Jamestown Regional Medical Center in Jamestown, ND.

Roger was born July 6, 1934 at St. James, MN, the son of Clement and Clara (Schmitt) Starkey. He attended school and received his elementary education and grew to manhood in the area.

He served in the US Air Force from 1952 through 1956.

He and Elizabeth Anne Greske were married March 30, 1957 at Cloquet, MN and made their home in Esko and Little Falls, MN, where they raised 7 children. In 1974 they moved to Jamestown where he worked as a TV Repair man at Snow's Appliance. He later opened Dakota Radio and TV in Valley City. After selling his business, he became a bus driver for James River Transit and the Jamestown Public School until 2015.

He was a member of the Basilica of St. James in Jamestown. He enjoyed collecting coins, hunting for treasures with his metal detector, reading western novels and traveling.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Starkey, Jamestown, ND; 4 daughters, Deborah (Daniel) Dack, Montevideo, MN; Karen (Perry) Finck, Jamestown, ND; Laureen Linstaedt, Jamestown, ND; Annette (Patrick) Murphy, Memphis, TN; 2 sons, Rodney (Victoria) Starkey, Jamestown, ND; Robert Starkey, Williston, ND; 13 grandchildren, Josh (Beth) Dack, Chad (Nikki Forstrom) Dack, Erik (Lyndsae) Dack, Andy Finck, David (Amy Phillips) Finck, Carissa (Cullen Goter) Finck, Nicole Linstaedt, Haley (Shawn Becker) Linstaedt, Nick Starkey, Brittney (Doug) Thompson, DJ Brunner, Mary Brunner and Patsy Murphy; 9 great grandchildren, Cooper, Brody & Jase Dack, Peyton & Elliot Dack, Lucy Lindhaus, Dexter & Amelia Finck and Holden Syverson; 1 brother, Gerald (Betty) Starkey, Carlton, MN, and 1 sister, Elvera Roe, Cloquet, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son, Gerald (Butch), 1 grandson, Matthew Finck, 1 great grandson, Colson Dack, 2 brothers, Lester and Leroy, and 1 sister, Marcella.

Funeral Mass - 2:00 PM Monday January 4, 2016 at the Basilica of St. James, Jamestown, ND

Vigil Service - 7:00 PM Sunday @ the Haut Funeral Chapel, Jamestown

Visitation - 1:00 - 7:00 PM the Haut Funeral Chapel

Roger has been in my life since I was teenager in Jamestown in the 1970s. He was like a second Dad to me watching to make sure I made good choices while hanging out with his daughter, Karen. Sometimes it worked! We have kept in touch over the years celebrating fun times snd sometimes sharing and supporting each other through the sad times as well. I feel blessed to have known him as an adult. He spoke his mind, lived his life on his terms, and didn't take crap from anyone. I will miss him.

Grandpa Starkey. Where do I start? I wish we could have had have been closer. But that's here nor there. The memory I have of you that stands out for me is the middle school field day. You were there as a driver to and from the event. And what do you know? You were my driver. We chatted for awhile, but it always stuck with me. The last time I saw you we went to dinner at Perkins and then we looked at photos of your time in Korea. And you told me of stories that wouldn't fly today. Korea has been my favorite station so far! I'll carry on the tradition. -Love Nicholas
