Obituary

Violet Schardin, 78, Jamestown, ND died Sunday October 23, 2016 at Eventide in Jamestown.

Vi was born December 5, 1937 at the family farm home 16 miles SW of Gackle, ND, the daughter of John and Lydia (Kleingartner) Kinzler. She attended the local rural school and graduated from Gackle High School in 1956. She worked at the Red Owl store in Gackle.

She and Frank Schardin were married October 12, 1958 at Gackle, ND. They made their home on his grandparents homestead were they farmed until 1963. They moved into Jamestown where she worked at various restaurants. In 1969 Vi went to work at the Elks for 9 years until they moved back to the farm at Jud. In 1979 they started gardening on a large scale and sold produce at the Pamida parking lot. Following the death of her husband in 2006 she continued to live on the farm until moving to Jamestown in 2013 where she has resided.

Vi enjoyed gardening, cross word puzzles, reading and visiting with friends.

Vi is survived by 2 brothers, Ray (Bev) Kinzler, Grand Forks, ND; Rueben (Viola) Kinzler, Clinton, IA; and 1 foster brother, Norman (Karen) Kleingartner, Gackle, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 1 daughter Pam in 1962, 2 sisters, Alma and Lucy, 3 half-brothers, Albert, Herbert, Bill, and 1 half-sister, Hulda.

Funeral Service – 10:30 AM Wednesday October 26, 2016 at the Haut Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND, with Pastor Bryce Tahran, officiating

Visitation – 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM Tuesday @ the funeral home

Interment – Jud Congregational Cemetery, Jud, ND

My thoughts are with you all. I will always remember driving with Aunt Vi and Uncle Frankie in their big car with the automatic windows - a thrill for a young nephew! God Bless.

Vi's Family, We are so sorry to hear of Vi's passing. She lived near my Mom and was always such a cheery and friendly person. She was a friendly and fun neighbor. It was fun to visit with her. She was always so positive and had such a good outlook on life. She will be missed. Sincerely, Beverly Lawler Kathy Burkle
