Obituary

Donald L. Hofland, 93, Jamestown, ND died Friday December 30, 2016 at the Ave Maria Village in Jamestown.

Donald was born October 12, 1923 at Reeder, ND, the son of Lennie and Mabel (Berg) Hofland. He attended the local rural school and graduated from Reeder High School in 1942.

He entered the US Navy July 24, 1945 at Seattle, WA during WWII. He served in the OS Theater on board the USS Wisconsin and was discharged July 18, 1946 with the rank of SN1.

He and Arlene Scheid were married August 23, 1958 at Jamestown, ND. They made their home in Jamestown where he worked for the ND Credit Union League until 1968. They moved to Dickinson where they owned and operated a Laundry and Dry Cleaning business. In 1974 they moved to Carrington for 2 years where he sold insurance for Lutheran Brotherhood. They moved to Jamestown in 1976 where he worked for the ND State Hospital in credit collections until retiring in 1991.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jamestown.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene, Jamestown, ND; 3 children, Curtis (Janice) Hofland, Jamestown, ND; Coleen May, Fargo, ND; Nancy (Jeff) Levin, West Fargo, ND; 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and 1 brother, Dean Hofland, Harvey, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his step father, 1 son-in-law, John May, and 3 sisters, Marion, Arlene and Delores.

Funeral Service – 1:00 PM Thursday January 5, 2017 in Trinity Lutheran Church at Jamestown, ND with Pastor Kristi Weber, officiating

Prayer Service – 7:00 PM Wednesday @ the Haut Funeral Home, Jamestown

Burial – Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, ND (in the spring)

Colleen it has been so many years since we spent time together in high school, however I still remember your dad. I am so sorry for your loss. We think our parents will be around forever. I will hold you and your family in my prayers. May God be with you at this time.
