Duane Dakota

Duane ‘Pete’ Knecht, 76, Cleveland, ND died Monday afternoon September 25, 2017 at his home near Cleveland.

Duane was born January 16, 1941 at Gackle, ND the son of Gerhardt Knecht and Emma (Speidel) Knecht. At an early age he moved with his family to a farm South of Cleveland. He received his elementary education in Cleveland and grew to manhood in the vicinity where he helped on the family farm.

He and Doris Meuller where married July 27, 1968 at Jamestown, ND. They made their home on a farm South of Cleveland where he farmed with his Dad and later on his own. In 1979 he started working for the Cleveland Elevator until 2004 when he retired. Pete was also a volunteer fireman for the Cleveland Fire Dept.

Duane loved ice fishing, auction sales, spending time with friends and family, cowboy shows, going for drives, gardening/watching garden; he also enjoyed liver and onions with cream chicken. He cherished of his D17 Alison-Chalmers Tractor and his 1977 Chevy Blazer, which he bought brand new.

Surviving are his wife Doris, Cleveland, ND , his children, Brad Knecht, Cleveland, ND; Dorothy Alfstad, Jamestown, ND; Casey (Shawntil) Knecht, Jamestown, ND; Penny (Andy) Meier, Jamestown, ND; Tony (Kari) Knecht, Cleveland, ND;8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, one sister Shirley Kutz, McVille, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Darold (Twin), Roland, Elroy, 2 sisters, Myrna and Sharon.

Funeral Service will be at 2:00 PM Thursday September 28, 2017 in Trinity Lutheran Church in Jamestown, ND.

Prayer Service - 7:00 PM Wednesday at the Funeral Home
