Martha Jean Schweigert, 79, Kensal, ND died Friday, November 17, 2017 at the Carrington Health Center in Carrington, ND.

Martha Jean Holmstrom was born March 6, 1938 near Gackle, ND, the daughter of Heino and Sadie (Dormanen) Holmstrom. She grew up Southwest of Gackle on the family farm, attending the Neudorf Rural School.

She and Elmer Schweigert were married February 13, 1954 at Moorhead, MN. To this union were born 6 children. They farmed East of Gackle until 1965. They made their home in several towns until 1971 when they moved to Kensal where they owned the Village Bar and retired in Kensal. Following the death of her husband August 13, 2014, she continued to reside in Kensal

She is survived by her children, 1 son, Michael (Andrea) Schweigert, Sykeston, ND; 3 daughters, Susan (Mark) Kilichowski, Minto, ND; Sara Steckler, Bismarck, ND; Pamela (Douglas) Pfaff, Dickinson, ND; 8 grandchildren, Ashley (Ross) Kent, Eric Schweigert, Alan Steckler, Christopher Schweigert, Derek Kilichowski, Shawn Schweigert, Laura Steckler, and Rachel Pfaff; 4 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Bernice Schmidt, Bismarck, ND.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; 1 son, Randall Schweigert; 1 daughter, Lynn Schweigert; 1 brother Edward Holmstrom and 1 sister, Mavis Kinzler.
