Irvin Kleingartner, 91, Jamestown, ND died Wednesday October 3, 2018 at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown, ND

Irvin was born on December 8, 1926 to Balzer and Olga (Schlenker) Kleingartner, on the family farm 10 miles south and 1 mile west of Gackle, ND. He received his elementary education in the local school in Gutschmidt Township and grew to manhood in the vicinity where he helped on the family farm.

He and Edna Nitschke where married June 30, 1950 in the Jud Congregational Church. They made their home on the homestead of his grandparents, David and Barbara Schlenker, 5 miles west of Jud, ND where they engaged in farming and raised cattle. They retired in 2000 and moved into Jamestown where they have enjoyed city life.

He was a member of the Jud Congregational church, Jud Farmers Union Elevator Board, supervisor of Raney Township and charter member of the Jud Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Edna, Jamestown, ND; 5 brothers, Albin Kleingartner and Norman (Karen) Kleingartner all of Gackle, ND; Norbert (LuElla) Kleingartner, Fargo, ND; Melvin ‘Pete’ (Sharon) Kleingartner, Princeton, MN; Edwin (Sharon) Kleingartner, Bozeman, MT; 2 sisters, Helen Kleingartner, Blaine, MN and Lillian (Dayton) Ward, New Brighton, MN, and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Rupert and Gordon.

He was such a nice man. We always enjoyed visiting with him at basketball games at the civic center. Then enjoyed visiting with him and Edna at the heritage centre as my mom is there too.
