James Eugene Wegley, 80, Jamestown, ND died Monday June 10, 2019 at the ND State Hospital in Jamestown, ND

Gene was born June 27, 1938 at Williston, ND, the son of Charles and Verda (Cathers) Wegley. He attended the local school where he received his elementary education and grew to manhood in the vicinity. He later received his GED.

Gene entered the United States Navy in 1959 and was discharged in 1962 with the rank of E-4 3rd Class.

Gene worked as a laborer doing construction around North Dakota.

He is survived by his daughter, Danita (Charlie) Busse, and their boys, Austin and Kaiden, ND; 2 sons, David (Michelle) Wegley, their children, Jonny, Jesse and Lexi, all of ID; Charles Wegley, WA.

My dad loved each and everyone of his children very much. My dad was creative, compassionate and talented. He enjoyed fishing, going for drives and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed reminiscing of the Navy. He was willing to give his last dollar to a stranger in need. Very very generous. He loved the lord. He trusted the lord as I do.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Steve, his sister Charlotte.

Gene you will be missed. I remember you as a hard worker. Thinking of others. Even at 80 you were talking about your plans to help others less fortunate then you. You were a good friend. Miss ya and love you man.

Gene. I remember growing up with The Danita And Kandi. We had a blast as you being the father to us. You gave whatever. They wanted and then some.. You were a very hard worker and you worked to give the girls whatever they wanted. My favorite memory of you was you always made glass candy and homemade beef jerky. I wish you couldve met my kids. My next favorite memory is. When you broke it down to us that you was marrying some lady from the Ur Church and she was from tbe south . you did love your dark skinned woman. Anyways I remember us girls coming in from school and looking to see if she was really there. But we didnt want her there cause You had us so spolied . You were loved so much Gene by ur People.
