Obituary

Charles Balvitsch, 64, Jamestown, ND, died Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo.

Charles was born October 20, 1960, at Rock Springs, WY the son of Frank and Marilyn (Nelson) Balvitsch. He grew up in the Glenfield area on the farm, attending school in Carrington and New Rockford.

He moved to Jamestown in 1984, where he became a part of the Alpha Opportunities family. He spent his time with the mowing crew, cleaning at JC Penney’s and the water plant in Jamestown.

Chuck enjoyed going to the races every Saturday, cheering on the Minnesota Twins, walking to and watching softball/baseball games at McElroy. He also loved hanging out with friends and family; he spent many times at The Buff in Jamestown. Chuck competed in the Special Olympic in three sports, soccer, basketball, and bowling, all of which he enjoyed very much

Chuck is survived by his sister, Darcy (Daniel) Thorson, Jamestown, ND; aunts, uncles, and cousins; and special friends, Jaxon and Candy/Brandon Carow family and Billy/Amanda Carow family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents Adolph Balvitsch, Betty Winandy, Yolanda Nelson and step-grandparent, Bill Winandy.

Memorial Service- 1:00 PM Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at Haut Funeral Home in Jamestown.

Celebration of Life- 2:00-5:00 PM Tuesday at The Buff Bar & Lounge in Jamestown.

I used to give Chuck rides on The James River Transit Bus when I drove for them, great guy. He used to wear suits sometimes. Always polite!
