Obituary

Karen Srur went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 in Fargo, ND at the age of 70.

Karen was one of seven children born on March 31, 1951 in Hillsboro, ND. She grew up in Portland, ND where she graduated High School. Family was always important to her and she didn’t venture too far when she attended Mayville State University obtaining a degree in education. She was employed as a teacher in North Dakota and Colorado for numerous years.

She united in marriage with Jerry Srur on September 1, 1973 in Mayville, ND. They resided in Fargo where they raised their three daughters.

Karen’s heart for Jesus shone bright as she was a light for so many. Her compassion for the church, family and others reflected throughout her life. She was very involved with her church family, enjoyed travelling, relaxing near water, reading, and spending time with her grandkids. She loved sharing her silly jokes, was quick witted, and very creative.
Karen was an educator at heart. She was kind, patient and always had time to pray for those that had a need. Her sweet demeanor, caring smile, and loving heart will be missed by so many.

Karen is survived by daughters Krystal Srur (Mike Turner), Kodi Srur, Bethany Hillesland (Mike Hillesland) sister Adonica Aune (Bob Aune), Shari Schneider (Dan Schneider), Brother Lydell Schultz (Peggy Schultz), Wendle Schultz, Korey Schultz (Tammy Schultz), grandchildren Aubrey Srur, Jovon Srur, Blake Hillesland and a large extended family.

She is preceded in death by her husband Jerry Srur, parents Lloyd and Margaret Schultz (Gulbranson), and brother Lorrie Schultz.

Krystal, Kodi, Bethany and families: You are in my prayers and thoughts as I grieve with you during this difficult time. I know that Karen is with Jesus, and I am happy that she is home forever in Paradise. But her absence from our lives is very painful. She will be missed dearly. I love you all, and sending my deepest sympathies and tears.

To Karen\'s families- I watched the funeral on this site and looked at the pictures of all of you who were very important in her life. Our deepest sympathies. The service and all the comments made about her makes a person want to serve like she did and care like she did.. it sounds like she ran the race well and more importantly now she is has her reward of Heaven. Much love, Jack and Helen Olson.
