LuWanna ‘Lu’ Remmick, 95, Jamestown, ND died Thursday evening July 14, 2022 at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown, ND.

LuWanna LaRaine George was born June 27, 1927 at Gackle, ND the daughter of Albert and Pearle (Cook) George.  She attended Gackle Public School, Gackle High School and Valley City State.  She taught rural school for several years.

She and Edwin Remmick were married May 2, 1951 at Fort Benning, GA.  They made their home on a farm five miles south of Gackle where they farmed until their retirement.   They moved into Jamestown in 2005 where they have continued to reside.  Following the death of her husband June 18, 2020 she continued to live in Jamestown. She entered Ave Maria Village in October of 2021.

Lu was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church, Jamestown. She taught Sunday school and was very active at the Emmanuel Church in Gackle.  She enjoyed bowling, gardening, reading, crocheting, traveling, fishing, camping, watching sports and playing cards.  She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Federated Women’s Club, VFW Aux., DAV Aux., and her Church circle, as well as holding leadership positions in all of these.  Lu was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lu is survived by her children, Shari Remmick (Lyle Talle) Tualatin, OR; Michael (Linda) Remmick, Devils Lake, ND; Mona (Mark) Klose, Jamestown, ND; 5 grandchildren, Rebekah (Eric) Wilkie, Robert (Christy) Remmick, Patrick (Emily) Remmick, Andrew (Kristen) Klose and Rachael (Josh) Smaage; 12 great grandchildren; 2 nieces, Candice Paczkowski and Colleen Fercho; and 1 brother-in-law, Lloyd Schopp.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and 1 sister, Phyllis Schopp.

 

In Lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Gackle Cemetery (325 Main St. Gackle, ND 58442) and/or the Mayer-Morlock Post 250 (American Legion Aux-Gackle).

Sorry to hear about lou... She was a wonderful lady but a quiet lady with a smile on her face always. When she spoke to you you felt special with her kind word's. Enjoyed her presence at tackle if actions also. Tame care in knowing they were both loved by many.

I'm sorry to hear of the passing of Lu, but she is home with her Lord and family. If she was here today, she would say "Hi Ellie"!! I loved her very much and will miss her at the reunions. We're thinking of you and praying for you. Love, Ellenora Todahl and Kristi Greenfield.
