Laurie Witzig, 60, Jamestown, ND died Sunday, January 22, 2023 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.

Laurie was born December 19, 1962 at Santa Monica, CA the daughter of Berkeley and Nancy (Herman) Lewis.  She grew up in Philadelphia, PA and then moved to New Jersey where she graduated from Shawnee High School 1980.  She and Scott Witzig were married July 18, 1985; they made their home in Minneapolis where she worked as a legal secretary.  The family moved back to the New Jersey area for a couple of years where she was a stay-at-home mom and then they moved to Jamestown where they made their home.  She worked as a para, at the YMCA daycare and then was a preschool teacher for 22 years.  Later in life she worked part-time at Walmart and then Farmers Union Insurance up until her death.

She was a very popular lady, every trip to Walmart or the grocery store was extended for chatting with former students or people she knew.  She loved her kiddos and also doing projects and crafts around the home over the years, including unique painting of bedrooms and the kitchen.

Laurie is survived by her daughters, Megan (Zane Berg) Witzig and Leeah Witzig, both of Jamestown; 3 brothers, Berk (Victoria), Shawn, Steve; husband, Scott and her father Berkley.

She was preceded in death by mother; and sister, Kathy Heaney.

Scott and family, I am so sorry to hear of Laurie’s passing. May you be comforted in knowing that she was one of my best employees and co-workers at the YMCA. She made huge impacts on many lives there. May God’s peace be with you all.

Megan and Leeah, Your mom was the best person. She loved both of you so much and talked about you so often on our breaks. I will miss her laugh, her quick wit and that smile. She had the best heart. The world will always seem a little dimmer now that she is not here. Please know she will never be forgotten. I pray God gives you comfort.

I am so sorry to hear of Laurie's passing. We went to high school together and I will always remember Laurie for her beautiful smile, friendship, and contagious laugh! My thoughts are with her family at this difficult time.

You will be dearly missed Laurie. I have always enjoyed our giggles when chatting away. Thank you ever so much for giving the world your heart. It was definitely made of gold, like your purse ! And thank you for always keeping an eye on grandma before she retired from Farmer's Union. May you rest in peace and dance the nights away under the stars. Wish I could have given you a hug last time I saw you, at walmart of course. I didn't know it would be the last time. Miss you dear friend.
