Perry Finck

Perry Finck, 65, Jamestown, ND passed away at his home on April 17, 2023.

He was born in Bismarck ND the 4^th of 5 boys to Edgar and Irene (Rath) Finck. He was 3 years old when they moved to Jamestown and he continued to reside here until his death.

He was employed at the North Dakota State Hospital for approximately 43 years. During that time, he held many different positions from Mental Health Technician, Security Guard and Custodian. He retired from the State Hospital at the age of 63. At that time, he still wanted to be busy, so to a part-time for NAPA as a parts delivery driver for 2 years.

Perry met his wife, Karen in 1979 and they were married in 1981. They continued to reside in Jamestown and had 4 children: Andrew, David, Matthew and Carissa.

He loved to visit with people and was very appreciative of all the family and friends that would stop by to visit over the past few months. This touched him deeply and he kept saying that the visiting caused his life to be extended. Prior to his illness, he frequented the Truck Stop in Jamestown many times to hang out with friends.

Perry had a passion to tinker on things and was always fixing broken things for his family, getting them to run like new. The largest joy in his life was the ability to get on the floor and play cars or tractors with his grandchildren.

He was an avid gun collector, hunter and fisherman. He participated in the Jamestown Fishing League for many years. His boat was named the “Lucky Horseshoe” and even though his team may not have caught many winning fish during the league seasons, he always said they had the most fun trying. He was also fond of attending local hockey games. Perry was a loving father, grandfather, son, nephew, uncle and friend.

He is survived by his wife, Karen (Starkey) of Jamestown and his children: Andrew of Moorhead, David (Amy) of Rice, MN; daughter Carissa of Moorhead, MN; 5 grandchildren: Lucy (Andy) Lindaas, Fargo, ND; Dexter & Amelia (Andy) Finck of Moorhead, MN; and Nolan & Levi of Rice, MN (David); 1 brother Rodney of Moorhead, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother Irene (Rath), father Edgar, brothers Harold, Todd and Gary, and one son, Matthew.
