Obituary

Dale Marvin Wittmier, 66, Streeter, ND, died Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at his home.

Dale was born March, 30, 1957 in Jamestown, ND, the son of Jacob and Elsie (Barnick) Wittmier. He attended school at Streeter and graduated from Streeter High School in 1975.
Dale married Denise (Williams) June 17, 1978, at St. Lukes Lutheran Church in Streeter, ND. They made their home in Streeter where he helped his parents on the family farm with raising various crops, milking cows, and tending to the pasture cattle and sheep. Dale had a passion for being behind the steering wheel and held many “driving” jobs over the years. He worked as a bulk-tank driver for the Streeter Co-Op, hauled milk on the weekends for Skip Caulkins Trucking, was a bus driver for the Streeter and Gackle-Streeter School Districts, drove semi for Craig (Dewald Farms), hauled cement for Aggregate Industries, mowed lawns at multiple cemetaries in the Streeter area, and occasionally joined his brother on bus tours transporting celebrities.

He was a member of St Lukes Lutheran church and served on the church board. Dale also served as the Mayor of Streeter, Fire Chief, member of both the Streeter Co-Op Oil and Streeter Co-Op Elevator boards, Manager of the Legion Club where he was responsible for hosting many community events, his favorite being Bingo night.

Dale enjoyed adventures with his family. There wasn’t an odd-ball attraction he couldn’t find if it meant bringing joy to the faces of his wife and children. Dale being a farmer, and Denise being a teacher, meant that free time for vacations was limited, but he made every free moment count for his family. Dale loved driving around and taking in the sights, even if it just meant driving out to the farm to let his dog, Gunner, go for a run. Once his kids were older, he loved Deer Season - especially when all his kids, and oldest granddaughter, had drawn tags in the lottery - his job was sitting on the hill with his brother and calling the kids to let them know which way to head. Dale was happiest when his family was all at home in Streeter. Most recently, a trip to the casino to celebrate Father’s Day and a private fireworks show brought many laughs and smiles.

Dale is survived by his wife of 45 years, Denise, Streeter, ND; Three children, Austin (Neil) Wittmier, Colfax, ND, Barret (Carina) Wittmier, Bismarck, ND, and Christa (Randy) Schwartzenberger, Bismarck, ND; Six grandchildren, Laykin, Wyatt, Wylder, and Grey Wittmier, Riley and Cambry Schwartzenberger, all of Bismarck, ND; his mother, Elsie Wittmier, Wishek, ND; One brother, Douglas (Glenna) Wittmier, Streeter, ND; and two godchildren, Ashley Farthing, Bismarck, ND, and Brett Williams, Streeter, ND.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jacob, in 2014.

The service will be recorded and be available to view here Saturday afternoon.
