I have such good memories of Leola from my childhood. I only knew her as Ditty, a family nickname, to this day this what I always call her. Once when she was over playing pinochle with my grandparents (Louis & Kathlene) and parents, the phone rang and I answered it. I was probably 6-7 years old or so. The caller asked for Leola and I said, "There's nobody here named Leola" and all the adults jumped up to correct me quickly before I hung up that phone call. It still makes me smile whenever I remember - I was so surprised to learn that her actual name was not Ditty! She was always so good to us kids, and so kind and warm, her eyes sparkled, she was just lovely and good. I'm sure she was cross at least once when taking care of us, but I honestly can only remember her being sweet and wonderful. Rest in peace, Ditty. Love and peace to Bill and all her loved ones.
