Fern Mack

Fern Renee (Davis) Mack Pettibone, ND, passed away peacefully on Friday November 6, 2026 at SMp Health- Ave Maria in Jamestown, surrounded by her family who will miss her dearly.

Fern was born February 23, 1954 the daughter of Delton and Erma (Wick) Davis.  She attended the local schools in Buchanan, Linton and Steele, ND.

She spent the first part of her career as a CNA at the Golden Manor in Steele; from her first marriage she had two children, Marvin and Melissa.

She met and married her lifetime soulmate Simon Mack on June 2 1988 and from that union Andrew was born. The two made their home on the farm near Pettibone, ND where she was a stay-at-home mom.  The couple moved into Jamestown in 2025 due to declining health.  Simon passed away in August of 2026

Fern will be remembered for being a good mother and grandmother, she enjoyed her grandkids so much.  She loved to play cards and games on her laptop and phone.  She always made time to stay in touch with family and friends.  She was also a good cook and baker; always sending goodies home with her kids. 

Fern is survived by her 3 children, Marvin Janke, Jamestown, ND; Melissa (Justin) Kalstrom, Oakes, ND; Andrew (Trish) Mack, Jamestown, ND; 3 grandchildren, Courtenay (Ricardo) Gamon, Carly (Joseph) McCuskey, and Jason Janke; and 3 great grandchildren, Evelyn, Trevlin, McKaylen 

She was preceded in by husband of 37 years, Simon; her parents; sister, Cindy Syverson; son-in-law, Trevor Kalstrom; and niece Angie Jacobson.

Fern and Simon were devoted members of the Catholic faith, staying true to it throughout their lives.  She will be missed for her kind heart and always thinking of others.

Services will be joint for Fern & Simon

Mass of Christian Burial- 1:30 PM Thursday November 12, 2026 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Steele, ND, with Father Peter Sharpe, celebrant

Interment- St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lake Williams, ND

Arrangements- Haut Funeral Home, Jamestown, ND
