Obituary

Violet E. (Meidinger) Bachman, 95, passed away on November 5, 2026, at Bethany in Fargo, North Dakota.

Violet was born on December 31, 1930, in Streeter, North Dakota, to Jacob and Martha (Schnabel) Meidinger. She graduated from Streeter High School in 1948 and remained deeply connected to the Streeter community throughout her life.

Following graduation, Violet worked at the State Bank of Streeter until her marriage to the love of her life, Harold Bachman. The couple was united in marriage on April 29, 1950, in Streeter and shared more than 50 years together before Harold's passing in 2001.

Violet dedicated herself to raising her three children, Neil, Roger, and Paulette, while also serving her community. In 1965, she began working as secretary for Streeter Public School, where she faithfully served for twenty-one years. She was a devoted member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church and was active in many community organizations, including the annual Buffalo Supper, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Jolly 17 Homemakers Club, and the Streeter Choir.

Violet and Harold shared a love of bowling and participated in leagues for many years, earning numerous trophies together. Following retirement, they enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, visiting New York City, Washington, D.C., California for the Rose Bowl, and spending many winters in Arizona with family and friends.

Known for her strength, independence, and determination, Violet continued to live independently in Streeter following Harold's death. In 2022, she moved to Fargo to be closer to family and spent her final years there, recently transitioning to assisted living. Above all, Violet treasured her family. She took great pride in the lives and accomplishments of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and found immense joy in watching her family grow through the generations.

Violet is lovingly remembered by her children, Neil (Carol) Bachman, Roger (Janell) Bachman, and Paulette (Ronald) Schlecht; her six grandchildren, Cory (Molly) Bachman, Tim (Brenda) Bachman, Melissa (Mariano) Rodriguez, Nicole (Darren) Olafson, Naomi (Jesse) Hoeg, and Erica (Nathan) Oster; her many great-grandchildren and great-greatgrandchildren; along with many extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother, Adam Meidinger; and her grandson, James Bachman.

Violet's legacy of faith, dedication to family, and commitment to her community will be remembered by all who knew and loved her. Her strength, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those she loved will continue to inspire her family for generations to come.
