Obituary
Leslie Allen Kendall, 72, of Jamestown, ND, passed away at 6:37 PM, Wednesday, September 24, 2026, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND, surrounded by family, seven days short of his 73rd birthday. He was born September 30, 1953, in Jamestown, ND, the son of LeRoy & Evelyn (Wahl) Kendall.
Les graduated from Jamestown High School in 1972. Between high school and college, he worked for his father, and with his brothers at Kendall Stone. He then attended Valley City State College in 1974-1975, where he wrestled with one of the best teams that they have ever had; 14-0, they were undefeated that year. According to his youngest brother, Clay, Les was a man’s man. He said, “I wrestled my brother only a few times and that was enough!” He was a man to be respected and not one to rile up. It was said to be some of the best days of his life
He married Cindy Nordtvedt on August 30, 1974, in Jamestown.
Les then went on to work at the Anne Carlsen Center for children for 31 years (1987 – 2018), as a community integration specialist, where he made some great friends along the way.
Les loved to play his guitar, golf, fish, hunt, and tend to his tomato garden and his house. He also loved to spend every minute he could with his beloved grandson, Cassius, family and friends, as well as his beloved pug dog, Josey.
However, his greatest love was studying the Bible. And praising the Lord every day for his blessings. Les knew there was a big difference between reading the Bible and studying it. He always tried to plant seeds wherever he could and always spoke of the importance of repentance. He was a staple in his church, the Spirit of Prophecy Ministry, and was missing only a few times in 20+ years. He will be sorely missed.
Les is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cindy; daughter Arin Kendall and fiancé Steve; and his one and only grandson Cassius; three of his siblings: Dwight and Marg Kendall of Jamestown, ND; Clay Kendall of Tyler, TX; and Connie Kendall of Rusk, TX; his brother-in-law, Robert Nordvedt; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father LeRoy, mother Evelyn, and eldest brother Kirk.
Celebration of Life Service will be 1:00 pm, Saturday October 17, 2026, at Haut Funeral Home, Jamestown, also in charge of arrangements, with Pastor Greg Allen officiating.
