Obituary
Sharman Zachrison, 76, Jud, ND went to her heavenly rest on Sunday, September 6, 2026, while recuperating with family at Devils Lake, ND.
Sharman Lenore was born October 18, 1949 at LaMoure, ND the daughter of Edward and Helen (Fode) Duden. She grew up on the family farm, attending school and graduating from Jud High School in 1967. After graduation, she attended Valley City State University, earning her bachelor’s in business education.
She and DelWayne Zachrison were married August 18,1968 at the United Methodist Church in Jud, ND. They made their home in Hannaford, ND for a short time and then moved to a farm South of Jud in 1976, where they raised their four boys. During this time, Sharman was a teacher at Jud Public School for 16 years until the school closed in 1994. It was always said that you could hear Mrs. Zachrison coming down the hall, and kids would be on their best behavior when she entered a classroom. She was known for being a tough but fair teacher, but even more than that, she was known for her cookies. Many students looked forward to holidays when Sharman would bring beautifully decorated cookies and share them with her students. In 1996, as it was always a dream of hers, she and DelWayne bought their current farm from her parents north of Jud, where she has resided since. After the school closed, Sharman began working at First Community Credit Union in Jamestown until her retirement in 2011. She became an FCCU board member in 2012.
Sharman had a deep abiding faith. She was an active life-long member of Jud United Methodist Church, often working extra hard to support the vision she and others had for the church and community. There were so many activities she put together with United Methodist Women (United Women in Faith) and the Klassy Klucks Homemakers. Sharman cherished the time she spent and the people she was involved with in those groups. She served in various leadership roles in her local church, served as an At-Large Member of the North Dakota Annual Conference for more than a decade, served as her Charge Lay Member many times, and also served almost an entire term on the Conference Nominations Committee. She enjoyed cross stitching, knitting, reading, puzzles, and travel, but the real joy of her life was her grandchildren. She had a book of blessings she would write in each time she felt blessed by something. In reading that book, one would have a difficult time in finding a page where a grandchild isn’t mentioned. She deeply loved her whole family, and she always let that be known.
There are two family activities that were of the utmost importance to her: the summer Duden-Zachrison family reunion and the annual Christmas shopping trip. She loved spending time with everyone during those summer reunions. This wasn’t just any ordinary reunion, it always had games, with a favorite being highly competitive games of diminishing bridge, book talks, and always time for the grandkids to play together. But the highlight of her year was probably the Christmas Shopping Trip. For more than 50 years, the women of the family would get together and do Christmas shopping. She loved the women who were part of that experience, and she looked forward to that trip each and every year. Over the years, it became more and more about the connections made, and a reunion of friends and family, than about shopping for her. In fact, she was very proud of the time the management of the hotel had to come up and ask the ladies to keep it down, as it was too loud! She often said, “I’m not sure how much shopping gets done anymore, but we drink a lot of coffee and visit.” Sharman will long be remembered for her love of family and all her friends.
Sharman is survived by her husband, DelWayne; 4 children, Dayne (Aimee) Zachrison, Devils Lake, ND; Eric (Kori) Zachrison, Boston, MA; Jamie (Kendra) Zachrison, Austin, TX; Chad (Kim) Zachrison, Pierre, SD; grandchildren Camille, Issac, Edward, Elise, Talanthalis, Zeke, Luther, Boaz, and Jude.
