Simon Mack

Simon Mack, 86, formerly of Pettibone, ND died Monday, August 24, 2026 at SMP Health- Ave Maria in Jamestown, ND.

Simon was born October 28, 1939 at Pettibone, ND the son of Henry and Mary (Silvernagel) Mack. He grew up on the family farm, attending the local grade school. He continued to work on the farm until he was able to purchase his own farm, 20 miles North of Pettibone. Simon farmed and worked for local farmers until the age of 83, when he was diagnosed with colon cancer.

He and Fern Davis were married on June 2, 1988 at the Catholic Church in Steele, ND. They made their home on the farm where they resided until 2000 when they moved into Pettibone. They moved to Jamestown in July of 2025 and then Ave Maria in early 2026.

Simon had a love for the farm and rodeo; he liked john deere tractors and haying. He also held a close friendship with his tame steer, Hank, who would’ve lived in the farmhouse had they let him. He also had a love for cats. He loved to spend time with family and enjoyed spreading joy to others with his sense of humor and jokes. He had a strong Catholic faith, he was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Tappen, ND.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Fern; 1 son Andrew (Trish), Jamestown, ND; stepdaughter Melissa Kelstrom, Oakes, ND; stepson Marvin Janke, Jamestown, ND; 2 step granddaughters; 3 step great grandchildren; siblings, Lenora Kutz, Jamestown, ND and Joe Mack, Bismarck, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers, Henry, Stanley, Andrew, Tony, 1 infant brother Joseph; 2 sisters, Benedicta, Mary, and 1 infant sister.
