Allen Dockter

Allen R. Dockter, 78, Jamestown, ND died Friday, July 31, 2026 at his home in Jamestown under the care of JRMC Hospice.

Allen was born March 28, 1948 at Jamestown, ND the son of Louie and Emma (Kammerer)Dockter. He grew up near Streeter on the family farm until they moved to Jamestown in 1956. He attended school in Jamestown until his senior year when he enlisted in the US Navy.

He entered the US Navy at Jamestown, ND, serving 4 years, including the Vietnam War, being stationed in the area. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in March of 1970 and made his home in Jamestown where he worked at Western Gear and Haybusters/DuraTech. He began working on the railroad for BNSF in 1976, where he was employed until his retirement. He and Michelle Haugen were married at Jamestown in 1972, they later divorced.

Allen enjoyed many things, including hunting, fishing, but especially golfing. He was an avid member of Hillcrest Golf Course in Jamestown; he may have spent more time shagging lost balls than golfing, amassing a large golf ball collection from all the lost balls he found. He was also proud of his meticulously kept lawn, spending time on his Harley going to Sturgis and working on cars in the garage.

Allen is survived by his children, Chad (Amy) Dockter, Otsego, MN; Melissa (Dean) Gilbertson, Jamestown, ND; Chris Dockter, Fargo, ND; 7 grandchildren, Kylie, Jacob, Taydem, Sierra (Dacotah), Cameron (CeCe), Jack, Kase; one great granddaughter, Havyn; 3 siblings, Daniel (Sharon) Dockter; Marilyn (Jerry) Roaldson; Della Seckerson, all of Jamestown, ND; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 siblings, Marvin, Jerome, and Diane; and brother-in-law, Larry Seckerson.


Funeral Service- 11:00 AM Thursday, August 6, 2026 at Haut Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND with Pastor Bryce Tahran, officiating.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM.
