Obituary

Lenora Elizabeth Hughes, 96, Jamestown, ND passed away peacefully on March 26, 2024, with her family members by her side. 

Lenora Hughes was born May 10, 1927 in Martin, ND, the daughter of George Jr. and Milleta (Keller) Bentz.  She helped out on the family farm while attending school until the eighth grade.  She worked various jobs in Harvey and then later went on to pursue her LPN Degree in Minneapolis.   

Lenora Bentz and Lloyd Hughes were married July 13, 1955 at Billings, MT.  During her life she worked at many different Health Care Facilities in numerous locations until they settled in Jamestown, ND in 1961. Lenora continued working at home as a daycare provider to care for her own family. 

Lenora enjoyed gardening, buying and selling antiques and loved to cook.  She was often heard on the radio and wrote letters to the editor.    After retirement she continued working at Lil’s Side Door, Kmart, Shady’s and McDonalds.  

She devoted her entire life to serving the Lord. 

She is survived by her children, Melanie Hughes, Jamestown, Mark Hughes, Cheyenne, WY, Tamie (Warren) Slind, Jamestown, Lynette (Kenneth) Ova, Jamestown; 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Donald (Joyce) Bentz, Jamestown, 3 sisters, Pearl Swang, Harvey, ND, Violet (Calvin) Buxa, Anamoose, ND, Elaine Baumgartner, Fargo, ND, and many nieces and nephews. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Hughes, and 1 sister Irene Hauser.
