Obituary

Roberta P. Anderson, 65, Jamestown, ND, died unexpectedly Friday, January 30, 2026, at her home in Jamestown.

Roberta Braun was born May 10, 1960, in Jamestown, ND, the daughter of Robert and Ellenore (Thompson) Braun. She grew up in Jamestown, graduating from Jamestown High School in 1978

She and Scott Anderson were married on June 16, 1979, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jamestown. Jamestown was truly home to them and is where they chose to create a beautiful and loving place to raise their family. Their three children, Jeremy, Justin, and Alicia, kept their hearts full and their lives busy.

Roberta exuded patience, care and kindness, which led her to open a licensed in-home daycare, all the while being blessed with the opportunity to watch her own children grow and flourish in her presence.

Wanting to forge new relationships, contribute to adult conversation and learn and perfect a new skill, she began employment as a Service Rep with Blue Cross Blue Shield where she remained until her retirement in June of 2024.

Roberta was an avid “hockey mom!” She spent countless hours on the road and in hockey arenas all over the state, cheering on all three of her children and their teammates. Her time spent with the “hockey moms” was filled with creative and exciting ways to encourage and celebrate their children on and off the ice. And, yes, these “moms” also knew how to fit in some adult fun for themselves.

In her free time, Roberta loved scrapbooking, gardening, and traveling. She and Scott enjoyed many vacations with various groups of friends and even somewhat “strangers”, who then became friends. No matter the location or fellow travelers, a good time was always had.  She valued her time and adventures with her “scrapbooking gals”; this hobby kept her traveling and provided hours of laughter, meaningful relationships, endless memories, and maybe even getting a little bit of work done!

Roberta most definitely loved and adored her children, and then she was blessed with eight grandchildren, who filled her heart and life with another profound layer of love and adoration. Under her care, she spent hours following them from one project to another, keeping them truly happy and entertained without a thought given to the mess being made! Grandchildren were for showing patience and undivided attention to, while keeping their minds creative and their hands busy. She always made the time to attend, or at least keep updated on, their many sporting events and other personal accomplishments.

Upon her retirement, her compassion and caring personality led her to adopt two cats, Abby and Ally, from the James River Humane Society. She enjoyed their company and snuggling and spoiling them with treats and affection when they accepted it.

Roberta is survived by her husband, Scott; sons, Jeremy (Tonya) Anderson, Jamestown; Justin (Jada) Anderson, Jamestown; daughter, Alicia (Christopher) Gussiaas, Carrington. Grandchildren, Miles and Brady Anderson; August and Atlas Anderson; and Bodey, Ande, Blair, and Crew Gussiaas; her father, her brother, many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother and parents-in-law, Milton and Evelyn Anderson.

Sending the Anderson family so much love during this difficult time. I had the pleasure of working with Roberta at BCBSND and always enjoyed getting to see her at different events or when I went to the Jamestown office. A beautiful soul!
