Rodney Remmick

Rodney Allen Remmick, 70, passed away Friday afternoon, November 28, 2025, at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.

Rodney was born on September 3, 1955, in Gackle, North Dakota, to Walter and Evelyn Remmick, who both preceded him in death. He grew up in a loving and lively household with his siblings: Sharon Strating, who also preceded him in death; Deborah Remmick Schroeder and her husband; Tom Remmick; Lynette Remmick Kriedeman and her husband; and Janelle Remmick Lindstrom.

Rodney was proud to have served his country as an Army veteran during the Vietnam era. After his service, he dedicated many years to working at the State Hospital then a brief period of time at Cavendish Farms where he used to joke that job made him the fittest he’d been in years. Following his time at Cavendish he went to work for the Jamestown Hospital. There he had so many stories about the people he would meet.

Rodney had a gentle, joyful presence that drew people in. He loved visiting the babies in the hospital during his shifts, delighting in their cute faces and happy little features. He found peace in gardening, joy in Minnesota Twins baseball, a love in playing the guitar led to music being something very near and dear to him. Black Sabbath, Tom Petty, ZZ Top, and Lady Antebellum were some of his many favorites. Rodney was an avid fisherman and bird hunter, and he was never one to turn down cake or ice cream. He enjoyed writing and poetry, but above all, he adored his family—his children and his many grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart. But most of all he was adored by all of his family in return, his children, siblings, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Rodney is survived by his children: Alissa Remmick and her four children; Dylan Remmick(Kristin), and son; Cody Remmick(Megan), and their two children; and Bailey Smith(Brian), and their two children. He is also preceded in death by his infant daughter, Jessica Remmick.

A Memorial Service will be held at Haut Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND, on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 10:00 AM. A lunch will follow at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at the Fargo Veteran’s Administration National Cemetery in Harwood, ND, at 2:00 PM that afternoon.

Rodney was a kind and wonderful soul with a deep love for all who knew him. He spent his days smiling, singing, and laughing. He was always ready with a warm hug, a sweet kiss on the cheek, and a gentle pat on the head. His grandchildren will remember playing catch with him, learning to read at his side, singing songs, and the unmistakable love reflected in his eyes. He was not a man of many words, but his actions spoke volumes—his family always knew they were loved.
