Charles MacKenzie

Charles MacKenzie, 77, Jamestown, North Dakota died Saturday afternoon March 12, 2005 at the Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center in Jamestown, ND.

Charles A. MacKenzie was born March 1, 1928 at Jamestown, North Dakota the son of Ralph MacKenzie and Josephine (Kauphusman) MacKenzie. He received his elementary and High School education at St. Johns Academy. He then attended Jamestown College where he majored in Music. He received his Masters in Music at Greeley, Colorado.

He entered the United States Marine Corp August 8, 1950 at Fargo, North Dakota. He was discharged August 7, 1954 with the rank of Sergeant.

He and Elna M. Weisenberger were married August 14, 1958 at Greeley, Colorado. They made their home in Froid, MT where he was employed as a Music Teacher from 1958-1959. In 1959 they moved to Manderson, WY were he taught music until 1964. They moved to Jamestown where they owned and operated Mac's Restaurant until 1976. He also taught music in Pingree and Buchanan. Following his retirement they have continued to reside in Jamestown.

He attended of the Basilica of St. James in Jamestown. Growing up Charles served as an Altar Server. He was a member of the Elks No. 995, All Vets, Drum and Bugle Corp. and the Knights of Columbus.

Surviving are his wife Elna, Jamestown, ND, two daughters, Peggie (Terry) Rigoni, Peru, Pamela (Jon) Licha, Socorra, New Mexico, 5 grandchildren and one brother, David MacKenzie, Buchanan, North Dakota.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mary and Alice.

The funeral service will be at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday evening March 16, 2005 in the Haut Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND, with Father John McGinnis, officiating. Visitation 9-9 Tuesday at the Funeral Home.
The interment will be made in the North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery at Mandan, ND, Thursday March 17, 2005.
