Obituary

Lena Beglau, 92, Valley City, ND died Sunday morning March 13, 2005 at the Sheyenne Care Center at Valley City, ND.

Lena Klundt was born October 1, 1912 at Alfred, ND, the daughter of John and Bertha (Hermann) Klundt. She attended grade school in Alfred and then graduated from Edgeley High School in 1930. She graduated from Valley City State College. She taught school for 32 years at schools in Alfred, Dickey, Jud, and 4 years in rural school near Alfred.

She and Edwin E. Beglau were married September 12, 1943 at Alfred, ND. In 1945 they bought of farm near Alfred where they lived until 1970 when they moved to Jamestown. Following the death of her husband in 1990 she continued to live in Jamestown. In 2002 she entered the Sheyenne Care Center at Valley City, ND.

She held offices on the school board, Homemakers Club, Alfred American Legion Auxiliary and the Retired Teachers Association.

She is survived by her 1 son, Stephen (Patricia) Beglau, Billings, MT, and 1 brother, Harry Beglau, Oakes, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday March 16, 2005 at the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown, ND with Pastor Bryce Tahran, officiating.

The interment will be made in the Alfred Cemetery at Alfred, ND.

Arrangements are by the Haut Funeral Homes in Jamestown, ND.

Visitation - 2:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. Tuesday

Mrs.Beglau was my second and third grade teacher in the Dickey,ND schoolin 1941-43. I remember when she was married, during the 2nd World War. She was one of my favorite teachers. God Bless her familyin their hours of need.

Just wanted to send my condolences to your family. Mrs. Beglau was a teacher of mine in Jud many years ago. She was a wonderful teacher. So patient and kind.

I got to know Lena in 2002 when she sat at my mother's table at the Care Center. She was the most alert of the four people at the table, and I enjoyed chatting with her while I was feeding my mother. It was fun to talk about her early days in Alfred and her approaching 90th birthday. Lena had an incredible presence evening her declining years. I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers
