Obituary
Oliver Schlecht, 71, Gackle, ND died Saturday morning December 10, 2005 at the Med Center One Hospital in Bismarck, ND after a battle with cancer.
Oliver Leslie Schlecht was born September 14, 1934, on the family farm north of Fredonia, ND, the son of Godhielf and Susan (Burkle) Schlecht. He attended the local school and graduated from the Kulm High School in 1952. He then attended the Ellendale College at taught school in the Fredonia area for 5 years.
He and June Heupel were married December 18, 1953 at Wishek, ND. They made their home on the farm south of Gackle where they have farmed and continued to reside.
He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Gackle and also taught Sunday school. He was a board member of the Gackle Co-op Oil
He is survived by his wife, June, Gackle, ND, 3 sons, Carey (Wanda) Schlecht, Wilmar, MN, Larry (Cheryl) Schlecht, Apple Valley, MN, Harry (Cathy) Schlecht, Jamestown, ND, 2 daughters Kay (Larry)Hust,Jamestown, ND, Sarah (Steve) Oberlander, all of Jamestown, ND, 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 3 brothers and 1 sisters, Chester Schlecht, Gackle, ND, Wesley G. (Connie) Schlecht, Solomon S. (Judy) Schlecht, all of Edgeley, Murhel (James) Carlson, Ellendale, ND, one brother-in-law, Doug Groth, Selby, SD.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, Robert, a sister Selma Groth and a sister-in-law, Ruth Schlecht.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 PM Thursday December 15, 2005 at the Grace Baptist church in Gackle, ND with Rev. Nick and Joanne Geffre, officiating.
The interment will be made in the Congregational Cemetery at Kulm, ND. Prayer Ser: 7:00 PM Wednesday at the Funeral Home in Jamestown.
