Jack Schlenker, 82, Jamestown, ND died Thursday December 15, 2005 at the Hi-Acres Manor in Jamestown, ND.
Jack Schlenker was born October 9, 1923 in Jamestown, ND, the son of Jacob Schlenker and Magdalena (Graff) Schlenker. He attended the Jamestown Public School and graduated from the Jamestown High School in 1941. He entered the United States Army February 22, 1944 at Fort Snelling, MN. During the war he served in the European African-Middle Eastern Theater. After the War he was a translator in the Berlin Document Center. He was discharged June 3, 1946 at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin with the rank of T-5.
He and Jeanette Bakken were married December 27, 1947 in Minot, ND. He attended Jamestown College and graduated in 1950 with a degree in Social Science. He worked at the Great North Yard Office in Jamestown. He and James Pallansch purchased King Studio in 1956 which they owned and operated. Jack and Jim retired in 1986. He was very active in community affairs, serving on the Jamestown Park and Recreation Board for 12 years and the Jamestown Chamber of Commerce.
He was a member of the National Photographers Assn, and the ND Photographers Association having held various positions in both associations. He also was a member of the Jamestown Elks Lodge No 995, having been a Past Exalted Ruler,
Surviving are his wife Jeanette, Jamestown, ND, one son and, Jon (Peg) Schlenker, one daughter, Jan (Gary) Haut, all of Jamestown, ND, 3 grandchildren, Jennifer (Gary), Jill, and Mike.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Monday December 19, 2005 in St. Pauls United Methodist Church in Jamestown, ND.
Interment will be made in the Highland Home Cemetery in Jamestown, ND
Arrangements are by the Haut Funeral Homes in Jamestown, ND.
Prayer Service- 7:30 PM Sunday evening at the Funeral Home
Visitation- 9-5 Saturday and 1-9 Sunday at the Funeral Home
