Juvelus Bjur

Juvelus Bjur, 86, Jamestown, ND died Monday morning March 13, 2006 at the Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center in Jamestown, ND.

Juvelus Bjur was born March 17, 1919 at Kenewick, Washington, the son of Oscar and Alida Bjur. At an early age he moved with his parents to Vallejo, CA. It was there that both parents passed away and the children were orphaned. In 1931 Juvelus and his siblings moved to Kulm, ND and he lived with his grandfather Jacob Bjur.

He and Gladys Viola Johnson were married November 13, 1945 at LaMoure, ND. They made their home near Kulm where they farmed until 1969 when they retired and moved to Jamestown where they were foster parents, rented out apartments, were caretakers at Beulah Campground and did janitorial work at the Assembly of God Church. In 1976 they moved to Iowa for a short time and did foster parenting before returning to Jamestown in 1980 where they have resided.

He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Jamestown, ND where he also served as an usher.

Surviving are his wife Gladys, Jamestown, ND, his children, Marlys (Dave) Lee and Bert Bjur, all of Jamestown, ND, Cari (Duane) Henders, Springfield, MO, 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

The Funeral Service will be at 1:30 PM Thursday March 16, 2006 in the First Assembly of God Church in Jamestown, ND with Rev. Darrell Losing, pastor officiating.

Interment will be made in the Assembly of God Cemetery at Kulm, ND
