Emma Ehmann passed away on April 28th, 2024 at Prospera nursing home in Mandan, ND. A private graveside service will take place in Alfred Cemetery in Alfred, ND next to her husband Harry. A private family ceremony will be held at a future date.
Emma was born to Jacob G. and Katarina (Elhard) Kalmbach on August 31, 1923 in Raney Township, LaMoure County in North Dakota. She was the second youngest of eight children. All seven siblings have passed before her. These included Martha (Mrs. Reinhold Klettke), Lena (Mrs. August Fetzer), John (Ella Drenth), Olinda (Mrs. Henry Elhard), Henry (Ida Ehmann), Chris (Zona Flegel) and Esther (Mrs. Harry Triepke)
She married Harry Ehmann on November 3, 1941. They lived on a rented farm for one year in Raney Township until purchasing the farm they lived on until moving to Gackle, ND in 1995. Harry passed away in 2008. Emma moved to Touchmark in Bismarck in 2012 and then Prospera in 2021.
Emma was the valedictorian of the 1941 class of Jud High School. She also played basketball and proudly had a picture of her team in her room at Prospera. She kept up correspondence with the remaining member of her team until four years ago.
She is survived by daughter Marleen Bussma (Vaughn) and son Darcy (Mary) and one granddaughter, Cassandra Bussma. She was proceeded in death by her husband of 66 years Harry, three infant sons and granddaughter Laura Marie Ehmann.
