Obituary
Christina (Getty) DeWitt, 102, Gackle, ND died Tuesday January 23, 2007 at the Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center in Jamestown, ND.
Getty was born March 31, 1904 near Jud, North Dakota, the daughter of Jacob F. Nitschke and Fredricka (Reinhardt) Nitschke. She received her elementary education in Jud rural and grew to womanhood in the vicinity where she helped on the family farm.
She and Harry DeWitt were married October 31, 1922 at LaMoure, ND. They made their home in Alfred where they helped Harry's dad farm. They later moved to a farm west of Alfred for 3 years. They returned to Harry's home place where they lived and farmed for 16 years.
In 1942 they moved to the outskirts of Alfred. Following the death of her husband February 10, 1979 she continued to reside in Alfred until 1997 when she moved to Gackle. She entered the Hi-Acres Manor in August of 2006.
She was a Charter member of the Grace Baptist church in Gackle, ND was a member of the Gleaner for many years.
Surviving are her son, James (Judy) DeWitt, Jud, ND, 3 grandchildren, Bryan (Barbara), Nolan (Linn) and Jason (Tammy), 6 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, and 1 sister, Olga Madche, Jamestown, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 son, 1 granddaughter, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday January 27, 2007 in the Haut Funeral Home at Jamestown, ND with Rev. Timothy Blackman, officiating.
The interment will be made in the Alfred Cemetery at Alfred, ND.
