Dear Auntie Fennie, Duane, Doris, Donna and Susie, My thoughts and prayers are with you this week as you are planning a special service that will reflect who your Husband and Dad was and what he stood for. It is an awesome opportunity to pull out those memories, some good, some not so pleasant, to make the service special. Although not having spent much time with Uncle Elmer in recent years, my memory of him is that of sitting around the kitchen table, drinking coffee and telling stories. He loved a good story and delighted in making others laugh. (Your Dad use to make a "mean" cup of coffee with his percolator. He should have started his own business. He could have had the jumpstart on Starbucks.) Another is the memory of that special look he had when he wanted to make a point. He would bend low, real close to the person, bring out his pointer finger and speak much softer with his mouth to one side. Even now as I am picturing your Dad, I chuckle. It seemed he often was making a point. Please know that I love you all and care for you. Surely wish I could be close enough to be with you this week or in North Dakota. With Love, Jan Pedersen-Shibley
