Obituary

Edwin Ackerman, 83, Wishek, ND, died Saturday afternoon April 21, 2007 at the Med Center One Hospital in Bismarck, ND.

Edwin was born August 31, 1923 at the family farm home near Streeter, ND, the son of Jacob Ackerman and Katherina (Stroh) Ackerman. He attended the local rural school and graduated from Streeter High School in 1942. He also attended Ellendale College and later taught rural school.

He entered the United States Army May 26, 1945 and served in WWII at Germany where he was in office administrations. He was discharged October 1946 at Fort Sheridan, IL with the rank of Corporal.

He and Alice Bonnet were married October 6, 1953 at Streeter, ND. They made their home near Streeter until 1966 when they moved into Streeter and purchased the Friendly Bar.

He and Veronica Evenson were married August 27, 1975 at Rapid City, SD.They made their home in Venturia, ND where they owned and operated the Duck Inn Bar until 2004. He entered the Wishek Home for the Aged in 2006.

He was a member of the St. Lukes Lutheran Church in Streeter, and the Amercian Legion.

He is survived by his wife Veronica, Wishek, ND, 1 son, Brad Ackerman, Williston, ND, 1 daughter, Deborah (Jeremy) Krieger, West Fargo, ND, 1 granddaughter, Aftin (fiancé - Jared Bye) Fargo, ND,3 step children, Marilyn Evenson, Michael Evenson, Fargo, ND, Larry Evenson, St. Cloud, MN, 4 step grandchildren,Marie,Greg, Jim and Dan, 2 brothers and 5 sisters, Elmer (Dena), Litchfield, MN, Reuben, Gackle, ND, Freida Wittmier, Steele, ND,,Helen Fischer, Elk Grove, CA, Edna (Norman) Niskanen, Mt. Iron, MN, Emma Hins, Jamestown, ND, and Lydia Reich, Minot, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday April 25, 2007 at the St. Lukes Lutheran Church in Streeter, ND, with Rev. Chris Hogstad, officiating.

The interment will be made in the St. Luke Lutheran Cemetery at Streeter, ND.

Visitation - 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. Monday & 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. Tues

Always enjoyed sitting with Ed at the Duck Inn Bar during my trips to the house in Venturia. He was always very sincere and friendly. He will be missed.
