Leona Suko

Leona Suko, 93, Gackle, ND died Monday evening August 27, 2007 at the Napoleon Care Center in Napoleon, ND.

Leona Remboldt was born June 16, 1914 at the family farm North of Gackle, ND, the daughter of Peter Remboldt and Fredricka (Teskey) Remboldt. She attended the local rural school and grew to womanhood in the vicinity where she helped on the family farm.

She and Gotthilf Suko were married March 25, 1936 in Jamestown, ND. They made their homes on farms north of Alfred in Stutsman County, and moved to the farmstead 8 miles north of Alfred in 1940. Following the death of Gotthilf in December of 1974 she moved to Gackle. In 2000 she entered the Napoleon Care Center and continued to reside there.
She was a member of the Assembly of God in Gackle, ND.
She is survived by 4 sons, Duane (DeElda) Suko, Alfred, ND; Neil (Connie) Suko, Alfred, ND; Harley (Faye) Suko, Apache Junction, AZ; Myron "Joe" (Connie) Suko, Mesa, AZ; 3 daughters, Mavis (Richard) Ben, Alfred, ND; Myra Grenz, Bismarck, ND; Margie (Darrel) Dockter, Medina, ND; 17 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren, 2 sister-in-laws, Irene Remboldt, Cuyahoga Falls, OH and Esther Remboldt, Jamestown, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 son, Wallace, 1 daughter, Marlene, 1 son-in-law, Gerald Grenz, 4 brothers, Emanuel, Ervin, Walter, Harry and 2 sisters, Lydia and Hulda.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Saturday September 1, 2007 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gackle, ND with Rev. Russ Pollock, officiating pastor.

The interment will be at the Gackle Cemetery in Gackle, ND.

Visitation: 9 - 9 Friday at the Haut Funeral Chapel in Gackle, ND
