Herb Janke, 74, Wishek, ND died Tuesday October 2, 2007 at his home in Wishek, ND.
Herb Janke was born July 15, 1933 Southwest of Wishek, ND, the son of Daniel Janke and Elizabeth (Schwenk) Janke. He received his elementary education at the local rural school and grew to manhood in the vicinity where he worked on the family farm. He joined the United States Army in November 8, 1956 at Ashley, ND and honorably discharged Ft. Riley, KS with the rank of PVT First Class November 7, 1958.
He married LaVerna Brandner on October 2, 1959 at Ashley, ND. They made their home on a farm 12 southwest of Wishek, ND. He farmed a number of years and worked for Martell's and the Wishek Livestock Market. He also worked at many auction sales. On August 10, 2007 they moved into Wishek, ND, and have continued to reside there.
He loved his grandchildren, and he also liked to collect John Deere items.
He is survived by his wife LaVerna, Wishek, ND; 3 sons, Delbert (Lois) Janke; Herbert Janke, Jr.; Brian (Connie) Janke, all of Dickinson, ND; 6 grandchildren; 1 sister Elvina Kaseman, Ashley, ND and 1 brother Calvin Janke, Las Vegas, NV.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Friday October 5, 2007 at Bethel Assembly of God Church in Ashley, ND with Pastor Ryan Maxted, officiating.
The interment will be at the Ashley Cemetery, Ashley, ND
