Obituary

Laverna Kleingartner, 73, Gackle, ND died Tuesday morning December 18, 2007 at her home in Gackle, ND.

Laverna Widmer was born February 17, 1934 at the farm west of Fredonia, ND, the daughter of George and Lydia (Elhard) Widmer. She attended the local school and graduated from Kulm High School in 1952. She taught school for 1 year and then worked at the Kulm State Bank.

She and Gordon Kleingartner were married November 14, 1954 at Gackle, ND. They made their home 7 miles south of Gackle where they farmed from 1954 until 1995. They moved into Gackle and Laverna started working at the Gackle Care Center in 1997.

She was a member of the First United Church of Christ, the Legion Auxiliary, the Library Board, Progress Homemakers, Gackle Senior Citizens. She also enjoyed playing cards, Scrabble, and crocheting. She especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Gordon, Gackle, ND, 2 daughters and 1 son, Elaine (Glenn) Ackerman, Fargo, ND, Kathy Kleingartner, Lexington, KY, Steven (Heidi) Kleingartner, Gackle, ND, 2 grandchildren, Paige and Megan, 2 sisters, Winona Oberlander, Kulm, ND, her twin, Lenora (Kermit) Herman, Minneapolis, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and a twin brother and sister in infancy.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. Saturday December 22, 2007 in the First United Church of Christ with Rev. Tim Blackman, officiating.

The interment will be made in Gackle Cemetery at Gackle, ND.

Visitation - 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. Thursday & Friday @ the funeral home
Prayer Service - 7:00 P.M. Friday @ the funeral home
